LARGE SMITHS ENGLISH CLOCKS VINTAGE 'SECONDS' DARKROOM TIMER - RUNS (PK)

Description

Large old vintage "Smiths English Clocks" darkroom clock, marked "Seconds" and "Printing", "M2", "No.1608", "Ref. No. 148/636" on the face. Made in Cricklewood, London. Large, the metal base is 12.5" diameter and the face is 8". Glass intact, no cracks or chips of the Bakelite main body, metal back is fine.
Semi-runs but we make no guarantees other than the clock will get to you safely so it is being sold as-is, no return.  That being said in our experience when it's wound and the the cord is pulled both hands reset to zero and when the cord is released the clock runs. Seems to us there should be a way to stop the clock at zero, perhaps some tweaking of the mechanism is required. With just a few winds the mechanism runs for hours when the clock is laid flat but when on edge (as in hanging from the wall) it stops after a while.
Clearly if your intent is to use this you will need to do some cleaning and lubrication of the mechanism at the very least, possibly some adjustment or even making a new part. Because of this we are selling this as a static collectible for display or as a source of parts or for repair, as-is, no return.
