This listing is for a POPEYE JACK IN THE BOX made by Mattel in 1957. One of the most desirable of the Mattel music boxes, it is made of tin with the addition of a tin spinach can inside the box which holds Popeye! Great graphics all around, including a comic strip in rear. The music box is in excellent overall, showing minimal play time (just a bit of paint rub on top of Popeye's hat and the bottom of lid from popping out). The music mechanism and latch still work great, playing Popeye's theme and opening the lid at the end of the song. Comes with the rare original box. The box shows some storage wear but is complete with all flaps and still displays great. Rare in this condition, especially working--one of the nicest I've handled. On consignment.
